Announcing CU x Setu Financial Assistance
Setu has teamed up with Cultivate Union to create CU x Setu Financial Assistance. Cultivate Union is a non-profit that supports sustainability and equity across the yoga community, led by Rachelle Knowles. CU x Setu Financial Assistance is a program that supports New York yoga teachers pursuing advanced and specialized trainings. Thanks to our partner, Here To Be, we are able to award $10,000 directly to the community. We will begin accepting applications on January 7, 2019 and are hosting a meet and greet on January 13 at lululemon Smith St in Brooklyn to answer questions and talk about the program.
Why CU x Setu Financial Assistance
Our goal is to equip yoga teachers with the tools needed to serve their students with even more skill and care. We know that to be a great teacher, you must be a continual student. Refining and evolving your awareness of the practice honors your students and yourself. Each training opens a new aspect of this for you and us. We want yoga teachers to thrive in their practice and hope to bolster the community by resources that make this work sustainable and generative for all.
We will be selecting recipients based on demonstrated financial need and potential community impact. Our primary focus for impact is in service to people who hold identities (gender, racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, physical abilities, etc.) that are often underrepresented in mainstream yoga.
How the program works
We will have two open application rounds in 2019 (January and July) from which we will select recipients for partial financial assistance. Assistance is intended to cover up to 50% of your training costs. The amount awarded is intended to supplement the cost of training, not transportation and/or lodging.
All information about the process including the timeline and applications will be posted on our website January 1, 2019. Have a question in the meantime? Please direct it to cuxsetu@gmail.com.
